Erica was born in Bakersfield, CA, on August 26, 1980. Erica was proud of her Scandinavian heritage and that her ancestors came to America on the Mayflower. Erica lived most of her life in Tehachapi, CA, and lived close to nature.

Erica attended Cal State University Bakersfield and graduated with her bachelor's degree and teaching credential in Liberal Arts and minored in Art. Erica was a teacher and an award winning artist.

Erica was preceded in death by her father, Bertil Arnot Brink; grandparents, Eric and Evelyn Brink; and grandfather, Oliver Nelson.

Erica is survived by her mother, Shirley Annette Brink; sisters, Vivian "Miki" Hall, Elizabeth Metz (Mark Metz); nieces, Taylor and Nicole Metz, Patricia Brink-Klinger (Adam Klinger); nephew, Aaron Brink-Klinger; grandmother, Rose Shirley Nelson; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the team of medical professionals that had a hand in her care.

First, the Bakersfield team: Dr. Stainer, M.D., Ophthalmologist, for looking past her eyes and finding the problem; Dr. Pineda, M.D., Neurologist, for his care and quick referral to Cedars-Sinai; Dr. Sarkies, M.D., Internal Medicine, for his care and kindness.

The team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center: Dr. Keith Black, M.D., Chief of Neurosurgery, for his extreme ability to keep Erica symptom-free for so many years; Dr. Chu, M.D., Neurosurgeon, for all his talent and kindness; the surgical team of doctors for their kindness and care; Dr. Phuphanich, M.D., Neuro-Oncology, for continuous care and loving support; Dr. Mirhadi, M.D., Radiation Oncologist, for his kindness and support; Dr. Bose, M.D., Neuro-Ophthalmology, for improving her vision so that the last week of her life she could clearly see the ocean; Dr. Hamid, M.D., Chief of Research at The Angeles Clinic, who saw that Erica was a participant in the latest medical trials. Special thank you to Joanna Wilson, R.N., and Laurice Trice, CPC, who were a part of Erica's team and became great friends.

Funeral services will be held on March 19, 2016, at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park on River Blvd at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you consider a gift of support to brain tumor research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Checks made payable to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
