Erma Ilene (Becky) Cline Obituary
Erma (Becky) Ilene Cline was born December 28, 1921, in Prairie City, Iowa to Jesse and Cora Pender. Becky was the second daughter of 4 children. In 1939, Becky graduated high school where she was a point guard for the High School basketball team. After graduating, she attended beauty school and became a cosmetologist. She owned her own salon in Iowa until she moved to San Francisco, California.
In 1948, Becky married the love of her life Floyd Winston Cline in Fresno, California. They moved to Bakersfield, California and started a family where Becky stayed at home to raise their two boys. Years later, she resumed her cosmetology career as a hairdresser and manicurist for an astounding 55 years. After a 50+ year career, Becky retired to care for Floyd. Becky is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd of 60 years and her youngest son Gregory. She is survived by her oldest son Allen and his wife Roni Cline, and daughter-in-law Deborah Cline. Becky and Floyd had the privilege of having four grandchildren, Shanann and her husband John Amarel, Theresa and her husband Derrell C. Willson III, Tammara Cline-Newby, and Gregory and his wife Jenny Cline. Becky and Floyd were also blessed with six great-grandchildren, Delaney and Brady Amarel, Rylan Newby, Desirae, Kaydence, and Aimee Willson, and Delilah Cline.
Becky balanced the love her life Floyd with many loves of her heart - her Lord Jesus Christ at the top of her list. Becky served the Lord at her home church Bakersfield First Assembly of God by teaching Sunday School for 50 years and leading women's bible study groups. Becky's deep religious foundation and moral certitude guided her to devote many years of her life doing the Lord's work. She volunteered at the Kern County Jail Ministries, travelled to South America to build churches, and was a coordinator for "Luke 14". She also ministered through music at nursing homes on Sunday afternoons with her husband Floyd. In addition to spreading God's word, she was Treasurer of the Cessna Sergeant Chapter of Ex-POW's, loved to garden, spending time at her cabin in Shaver Lake with family, and adored Christmas time songs and scripture. Becky passed away June 27, 2015 in the comfort of her home surrounded by loved ones. She is deeply loved and will be truly missed.
