Ernest Leroy "Lee" Williams, M.D. passed away August 31, 2016, at the age of 98 in the comfort of his home with his daughters by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Myron Levy and Lenora Bonus Levy, brothers Myron Levy, Paul Levy and Edmond Williams; wife Carolyn Mitts Williams, son Roger Williams, and daughter Minette Williams.
Lee is survived by his daughters Lynne Fausset and Tammy Pruitt, his grandchildren Jason Fausset, Kari Fausset, Tara Williams, Raymond Pruitt, and Chris Casey; and 5 great grandchildren. Lee was born October 5, 1917, in Lark, ND. The family moved to CA, where Lee would spend the rest of his life. He attended UCLA, Pacific Union College, then Loma Linda University, where he received his medical degree. He served in the US Army as Captain during WWII. After the war, he settled in Delano, CA, where he served the community as physician/surgeon for over 40 years. He moved to Oxnard, CA, in 1985, and worked at the Camarillo State Hospital until it closed. Instead of retiring, he began working for the California State Correctional System in Wasco and Chowchilla. Besides being a physician, he enjoyed piloting his plane, and square dancing, round and ballroom dancing. He was a prolific writer, mostly medical journal articles. He was a real estate broker in his spare time. Playing the organ, reading, and crossword puzzles were favorite pastime activities. He spent many hours volunteering at St. John's Regional Medical Center and Port Hueneme Naval Base in Oxnard.
He will be remembered for the loving gestures he bestowed upon his family. We are deeply saddened by his passing, but are comforted by years of memories of a life fully lived.
Funeral services will be held at Delano Mortuary on September 14, 2016, with viewing from 10 AM - 11 AM, then service at 11 AM, followed by graveside at North Kern District Cemetery, Delano.
