Ernestine E. Shepard July 23, 1923 - September 23, 2012 Ernestine (Wilhelm) Shepard was born July 23, 1923 in Longmont, Colorado. At the age of 6, her family moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, where she resided for the next 12 years. In March 1942, she went to work for the War Shipping Administration in Washington D.C. and remained there until the end of the war. It was there that she met her husband, Willis Shepard, who was serving in the Navy. They were married in Wheatland, Wyoming on March 10, 1946 and left immediately for Carmel, California. She was employed by Wilder & Jones, Inc. for one year in the office while Willis worked there and then retired to become a stay-at-home mom and raised her two children - Geraldine Frakes and Stanley Shepard. After raising her children she returned to the business world and worked for Ailing House Pest Control for 13 years. After retirement, she and her husband purchased a motor home and spent many years traveling in the United States as well as Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Europe, Scandinavia, England, Scotland and Hawaii. She enjoyed crafts and worked for many years doing crafts for her church bazaar. She was a charter member of the Community Church of the Monterey Peninsula. In June 2004, the Shepard's sold their Carmel home and moved to Bakersfield, California to be closer to family. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Willis Shepard; daughter, Geraldine Frakes of Bakersfield; Roy L. Frakes of Visalia; son, Stanley Shepard (Ana) of Jamul, California; four grandchildren, Wesley Frakes (Mary) of Visalia, Danelle Alteparmakian (Tony) of Bakersfield, Justin and Brandon Shepard of Jamul, California; four great grandchildren, Carson and Cidness Frakes of Visalia, and Cassidy and Isabella Alteparmakian of Bakersfield; two brothers, Ron Wilhelm of Torrington, Wyoming and Marvin Wilhelm of Denver, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 4500 Buena Vista Road, Bakersfield, CA 93311.
