Ernestine Manning

02/15/1933 - 08/27/2015 Obituary
Ernestine Manning, age 82, went to be with the Lord August 27, 2015 at Palm Living Home where she was dearly cared for by Gerphett, Teresa, and Linda.
Born February 15, 1933 to Luther Collins and Estella Collins in Searcy Arkansa she wed Jim Manning at age 15 after stealing his heart with her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. They resided in Bakersfield, CA for most of their life together and enjoyed 67 years of happy marriage.
She was a deeply devoted wife, wonderful mother to two daughters, and loving grandmother who carried within her the kindest heart and radiated the sweetest soul. Ernie was always near with a smile waiting, gentle laughter, and a luminescent goodness you only see come around once in a lifetime. After battling cancer for 21 years, she stood as a pillar of quiet strength fueled by her hope and faith in God. She truly lived a remarkable life filled with trips to the Central Coast, Redwoods, Arizona, family gatherings, and church on Sundays.
Ernie is survived by her husband Jim Manning, daughters Jean Tarpley and Donna Gaeta, sister Betty Dewoody, son-in-laws Larry Tarpley and Joaquin Gaeta, six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held Thursday, September 3, at 10:00 A.M. at the Bakersfield National Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arvin, CA.
In lieu of flowers, we ask to make a donation in her memory to Optimal Hospice.
