Eugene Albert Sultze Obituary

Eugene Sultze, 82, died suddenly in his home in Bakersfield, California on August 9 2016, joining his beloved wife Virginia in heaven, who passed away sixteen months ago.

Eugene was born to Rolland and Nina Sultze in the midst of the Great Depression. One year, Rolland had only a quarter at Thanksgiving. Since that would not buy much, even in those days, he entered it into a raffle and won a turkey! The family ate well that holiday.

Eugene was president of his senior class in high school. He loved to run and earned a track and cross country scholarship to the University of Wisconsin. He ran the mile in 4:09 at the time when the world record was about four minutes.

Upon graduation he served in the army and was stationed in France where he met the love of his life, Virginia Lake in a sidewalk Paris cafe.

They married in 1959 and settled in Bakersfield. Eugene began a 30 year career as a chiropractor. There are countless testimonies of patients who were saved from back surgery through his skillful hands.

He is survived by his brother Alan Sultze of Janesville, Wisconsin; children Stuart (Cathleen) of Bakersfield; daughters Germaine (Sam) of Whittier; and Andrea (Tom) of Fresno. Also, by eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Eugene's favorite Bible verses were 2 Timothy 4:7,8 - "I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous Judge will award me on that day- and not only me but to all who have loved his appearing." In lieu of flowers please send donations to Dove Creek Bible Church Building Fund, 15131 Office Park Drive Bakersfield, Ca 93309_ A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20th at 10 A.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306
