Evelyn Morine Crenshaw Smith 1919-2012 Evelyn, born September 5, 1919, in Woodford, OK, passed away in Chula Vista, CA, December 22, 2012. Most of her working life was in Arvin, where she & her husband John raised three sons, John, Royce, and Larry. She was known as a hard worker, a great cook, a wonderful wife & mother. She was active civically & a Charter Member of the Arvin Free Will Baptist Church. After her husband JB's death, she moved to Fresno, CA, to be closer to her mother & sisters. She held various offices in the VFW, the Clovis Free Will Baptist Church, & her condo association, attending functions at district, state, & national levels. Her presence & contributions will be missed by all. She is survived by her sons, 3 sisters, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren & 6 great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Friday, January 4, 2013, from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., Bakersfield, CA, with a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at the Arvin Cemetery, 15543 S. Vineland Rd. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at the Arvin Free Will Baptist Church, 782 Orange Ave, Arvin, CA. The memorial service will be Sat., January 5, 2013, at 10 a.m. at California Christian College, 4881 E. University Ave., Fresno, CA 93703. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in the form of gifts to California Christian College, where Evelyn spent years volunteering in the library and in other ways at the college.
