Fay Rosenlieb Kennedy Obituary
Fay Rosenlieb Kennedy April 12, 1926 - January 3, 2013 Fay Rosenlieb Kennedy passed away in her home in Cambria, CA on January 3, 2013, having lived an energetic and full life. Fay was born in Long Beach, CA on April 12, 1926, moved to Coalinga with her parents, Roy and Alma McCannon, in 1928 and then moved with her parents to Bakersfield in 1934 where she lived for the next 55 years. Fay was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank Rosenlieb, in 1995. Fay's career as a teacher in Bakersfield spanned 40 years; teaching at Longfellow and Jefferson Elementary, Compton Jr. High and Highland High School. While teaching and raising her family of five children Fay completed her bachelor's degree at Fresno State. As with anybody blessed with her joie de vivre, her interests were many and varied, chief among them gardening, photography, the arts, and travel, which seemed to be insatiable. In 1999 Fay married Robert (Bob) D. Kennedy and settled into an on-the-go life in Cambria; active in the Allied Arts Guild, the Presbyterian Community Church, the Cambria Gardening Club, a Dance Club and volunteering as a docent at Hearst Castle. Fay was instrumental in starting the "Wednesday Roundup" club at the Cambria Presbyterian Community Church, offering an opportunity for shut-in seniors to get out and socialize; the organization continues today. Fay and Robert traveled extensively during their wonderful thirteen plus years of marriage. One of their favorite destinations was Yosemite. Fay is survived by her husband Robert, her five children; Ellen Peterson (husband Mike Peterson), Carol Greene (husband, the late Honorable Warren Greene), Scott Rosenlieb, Trent Rosenlieb (wife Maureen Jakocko) and Jay Rosenlieb; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services to celebrate Fay's life will be held at the Cambria Presbyterian Community Church on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM and at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1314 N. Oswell St. in Bakersfield on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Family graveside service to follow.
