Fay Walters October 3, 1931 - November 2, 2012 Graveside funeral services will be held in Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. for Fay Walters, 81. She was born to Alvie and Nellie (Goforth) Holmes in Cauthorn, Arkansas on October 3, 1931 and passed away in Bakersfield on November 2, 2012. Mrs. Walters had been employed for over 20 years by The Bakersfield Californian as an executive secretary for publisher Don Fritts and later became Mr. Fritts' caregiver and manager until his death in 2006. She was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Cambria. Mrs. Walters was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Walters, and by her second husband, Nelson Van Judah. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Michael and Anita Walters, Steve and Beth Walters, and Cheryl and John Moncier; her brothers, Gene, Jake and Howard Holmes; her sister, Kris Holmes; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jon Walters and fiance, Jenny, Greg and Christine Walters, Patricia George, Christal and Larry Aldrich, Dylan Walters, Heather and Joey Odem, George and Bri Moncier and Kimberly Moncier; her great grandchildren, Michael, Griffin and Jessica Walters; numerous nieces and nephews; her step-daughter and her husband, Alison and Richard Cardona; and by special friends, Susan Trihey, Cleta Bird and Terre Jones. In lieu of flowers it has been suggested that donations in Mrs. Walters' memory may be made to your favorite animal shelter. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice and nurse, Diane, and the staff at Arcadia House for their love and care given to Mrs. Walters. No visitation hours are scheduled.
