Fernando G. Gil October 15, 1927 - March 21, 2012 Fernando Gil was born in Burbank, CA to Julian and Juanita Gil. A resident of Delano for 83 years, Fernando proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Post Office after 36 years of service. Fernando's passions were his family, the LA Dodgers and politics. He took great pride in his tomato garden, thoroughly enjoyed reading, and was fascinated by history and world events. He was a humble man who measured his wealth by the love his family had for him. Fernando was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Enedina, brothers Conrado, Ramon and Paul and sister Alvina Felix. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Aurora, sister Connie Cardoza, his daughters Dee (Art), Eleanor, Licia (Dave), Susie (John), and sons Julian, Paul (Michelle), David (Monica), his loving and faithful dog Smokey, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Tran, Dr. Stiles, Dr. Desai and the staff of SJH Step Down Unit. Dad, you are gone from our sight but will forever live in our thoughts and our hearts. We love you so very much. Mass and rosary will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Delano, CA. www.bakersfield.com/obits
