Frances Duncan Obituary
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, November 13, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Hillcrest Mortuary, Bakersfield for Carol Craven Duncan. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at her home in Stallion Springs, CA.
Carol was born December 19, 1932, in Cullman, Alabama to D. G. "Jack" & Vina Craven. The Craven Family moved to Arvin, CA in 1937, when Carol was 5 years old. She attended Arvin Elementary School and Bakersfield High School. On October 28, 1950, she married Bert William (Bill) Duncan of Arvin, who just happened to be the bus driver of the school bus that picked up Arvin students who were attending Bakersfield High School in the days before Arvin High School was opened. Bill was also involved with farming which his dad had left him upon his death in 1949.
Carol became a farmer's wife and homemaker. They resided several years on the family farm located on Sunset Blvd., rural Arvin. Later, they moved to their new address on Weedpatch Hwy., located between Weedpatch and Lamont. In 1980, Bill semi-retired and moved his wife to Stallion Springs. She is survived by her husband, Bill. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary on October 28, 2015.
Carol worked off and on at various part time seasonal jobs including Vineland and Weedpatch Cotton Gins, where she weighed and recorded the cotton being brought in by the local cotton farmers. She served as PTA President for Vineland School and stayed active with her 3 sons with their school activities including band, orchestra, sports and little league games. She was often seen at baseball games with her father, Jack Craven, who loved to support both Danny and Mike Duncan in their sports. Carol was an avid bowler in the 1960's and then become a lover of golf. She served as President and Club Champion of the Horse Thief Ladies Gold Club for 7 several consecutive years, and was considered one of the honored members. She was loved and considered a leader by the women who belonged to this prestigious golf club.
She is survived by her 3 sons and their families: Randy Duncan (Dan Wright) LaPorte, IN; their children-Derek Duncan (Kristan) San Antonio, TX; Denee' Duncan Dimiceli (T.J.), Edmond, OK; Jennifer Duncan, Houston, TX and 6 great-grandchildren: Burke, Brynn & Kadyn Duncan; Thomas, Finley & Max Dimiceli. Dan & Susie Duncan, Bakersfield; their children-Kevin Duncan, San Francisco; Danielle Duncan Murnane ( Matt ) Las Vegas, NV; and Olivia Duncan, Bakersfield. 2 great grandchildren: Daylin & Liyah Mike & Jennifer Duncan, Bakersfield, their children: Baylie & Rylie Duncan, Bakersfield. Carol is survived by 3 brothers and 1 sister; Bob(Kathryn) Craven, Bakersfield; Terry Craven, Bakersfield; Jack (Lucille) Craven, Tehachapi & Nell Craven Googins (Jerry), Goodyear, AZ.

A private viewing will be held from 1:00 â€" 1:45 PM prior to the 2:00 PM Memorial Service. There will be no graveside service.
