Frances Irene (Wilson) Stevens October 20, 1937 - March 23 2013 Frances Irene (Wilson) Stevens was born in St. Louis MO to Abe and Ethel Wilson. She had three siblings, Johnny, Delores and Virginia. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Frances was married to Alton L Stevens on May 17th, 1958. They would be celebrating their 55th year together in May. She resided in Bakersfield for those 55 years. She was survived by her children, Kathleen Padgett, Alton Stevens Jr., and Denise Pfister. She had six grandchildren, Terra and Josh Padgett, Alton and Brett Stevens and Hannah and Charlie Pfister. Frances devoted her life to the care of others. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She worked at Horace Mann as a playground attendant, assisted with the care of the elderly, and spent her later years caring for her grandchildren. Most recently, her interests included traveling, dancing with the "Pairs and Spares" group and participating in events at the Rasmusen Senior Center. Frances loved people and making new acquaintances, however she invested much of her time in her friends and family. Frances went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 23rd. 2013, at 11:00p.m. while surrounded by her family. She lost her battle with Lung cancer after being diagnosed in November 2012. A Funeral service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery North on Thursday March 28th at 10:00 am. www.bakersfield.com/obits
