Fredrick Donald Olague October 22, 1955 ~ June 28, 2012 Fred was a giant of a man with a giant heart to match. Everyone he met was an instant friend for life, every student he taught or coached admired and looked up to him. For years he lovingly served the community as a junior high basketball coach and a year at Highland High School. When Bakersfield announced that they would be starting their own hockey team -The Bakersfield Fog- he leapt at the opportunity to help run the games. From then until just last year he served Condorstown as penalty box official to head of the off-ice officials. His career at James G. Bowles Juvenile Hall as a teacher and teaching assistant has touched the lives of his students and co-workers. Somehow through all of his incredible work he made time to love and support his two children, Robyn and Cory, in all their many endeavors. For Cathy, his beloved wife, he was a husband and confidant and most of all he was her best friend. He was and is loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother Stephanie and is survived by his wife, Cathy, his daughter, Robyn and son in law, Jeremy Lace, his son, Cory, his father, Donald Olague and his step-mother, Beverly Olague. His celebration of life will be held at Greenlawn Southwest on Friday, July 6th, with a viewing at 9am and services at 10am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers family requests to visit the Fred Olague Memorial site and make a donation to the fight against Diabetes: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/Events/Tributes-AlwaysandForever?pxfid=544306&fr_id=5720&pg=fund www.bakersfield.com/obits
