Geneva Coleman Obituary
Geneva Coleman September 14, 1920 - August 5, 2012 After living a long and full life Geneva passed away on August 5, 2012. She was born in Wasco, California to Beatrice and Alex Buechler, the second child and only girl in a line of much loved brothers. After, in her own words, "a very happy childhood," she graduated from Wasco High and then attended junior college in Santa Barbara. At a church social in Wasco, she met Bryan Coleman who was instantly smitten. After borrowing her brother James' car for their first date, Bryan professed that he was going to marry her and indeed pursued her until she accepted. Our mother devoted her life to God, church, and her family. We will all miss her strong spirit. Geneva is preceded in death by her husband, Bryan Coleman and her eldest brother, James Buechler and her youngest brother, Ray Buechler. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cathie Easton and son-in- law, Bill Easton; Thomas Coleman; Colleen McCartney and son-in-law, Thomas McCartney; Christine Starkey and son-in-law, Paul Starkey; and her granchildren: Danny Easton and his wife, Christine; Mike Easton, Katie Easton, Sara Coleman, Thomas Coleman Jr. and his wife, Jen; Joey Coleman, Jenny Coleman, Matthew McCartney, Sean McCartney, Maureen McCartney, Carrie Starkey, Bryan Starkey, and Daniel Starkey; and her great grandchildren: Ben, Billy, Charlie, and Rachel Easton; Katrina, Alex, and Brandon Dela Cruz. Geneva is also survived by her brother, Alex Buechler, and his wife, Maryanne; her brother, Robert and his wife, Judy; and her sister-in-law,Teresa McIntire. We are especially grateful to Alex, Maryanne, Bob, Judy, and Teresa for their faithful and loving visits to our mother in her last days. We would also like to thank all of the people at Pacifica Senior Living for making our mother comfortable and safe during the last years of her life and express our sincere appreciation to the caring nurses and staff from Hoffman Hospice. Services will be held on August 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Saint Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church. www.bakersfield.com/obits
