Genevieve Leapley Obituary

Genevieve Marie Leapley "Gen" October 22, 1921 - September 21, 2010 Visitation for Genevieve Marie Leapley "Gen" will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Gen, the matriarch of our family passed peacefully and with dignity. Gen, a beloved wife to Elwood G. Leapley (Buss) for 64 years, dedicated her life to God. Her religious and family beliefs were always top priority. Her children, Helen Ann And Gary, were her pride and joy. She encouraged and supported all their activities and accomplishments as children into adulthood. Without conviction she fully participated in the raising of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren being known and loved as Nani. Feeding them breakfast before school and helping with homework after. Her love and support was seen and appreciated with her daily doings. Gen loved to travel with Buss and go to casinos. Daily she fed her turtles which she took great pride in. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Legion Auxiliary, and DAV Auxiliary. A Real Estate Broker for 25 years and past president of the Faculty Wives. As a member of the Kern County Democratic Central Committee she won the Dorothy Donohue award. Today and forth we celebrate her life with us. Her amazing grace bestowed upon us. Always loved and forever missed. Gen is preceded in death by her grandson, Zachary James Horton; her brothers, Marc and Gerry; and her sisters, Joann and Delores. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, E.G. "Buss" Leapley; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Michael Horton; son, Gary Leapley; grandchildren, Genevieve Lester and Tyler Horton; great grandchildren, Tristan, Theresa, Bradley and Johnathan; brother, Ron Chicoine; sister, Mary Donovan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
