George Jaquez Subia Sr. Obituary
George Jaquez Subia Sr. February 21, 1942- November 24, 2013 George passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24th surrounded by his family. Visitations will be held on Sunday December 1, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00pm. Traditional Catholic services will be held at St. Joseph's Church on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 12:00pm, with burial services following at Hillcrest Mortuary. George was born February 21, 1942 in Gallup New Mexico to Pedro and Luz Subia. The Family moved to California in 1944 and settled down in Bakersfield where George would call home for the rest of his life. He graduated from BHS and Bakersfield College. He was a hard worker and prided himself on working up to 3 jobs at a time in his early years. He worked for Mercy Hospital for 34 years until he retired in 1999. He met the love of his life, Cruz Catano in the mid 60's and they were married on August 5, 1967. They were married 43 years and raised their 3 children together. When Cruz passed away in 2010, George spent his remaining years spoiling his grandchildren as much as he could, always looking forward to the day he would reunite with Cruz. On November 24, his wish came true and the lord took him from us so he could be with his true love. George is survived by his son George Jr, his daughters Christina Stovall, and Teresa Subia, daughter in-law Barbara Subia and son in-law Ken Stovall along with his grandsons George Subia III, James Subia, Ryan Stovall, Eric Stovall, and Nicolas Stovall. He is proceeded in death by his Brother Gilbert Subia, Sister -in-law Dora Subia, his parents Pedro and Luz Subia, his nephew John Delarosa along with a number of loved ones who are waiting to welcome him into the kingdom of heaven. www.bakersfield.com/obits
