George Linnell Jr. March 10, 1926 - November 9, 2012 Pop went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 9th. He was a man who deeply loved God and his family. Although he will be greatly missed, he will always be remembered in the hearts and memories of his loved ones. He will be remember as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Pop was a caring, easy-going, and gentle man who always had a kind word for others. He was happy spending time with his family, caring for his special friend "Bubba Hairy" and working in his garden. He appreciated the beauty of God's creations, and loved to see the sunrises and sunsets. He faithfully tended his garden, including 85 rosebushes, and did so until the last year of his life. George was born on March 10, 1926 in Oildale, California to George and Edna Linnell, and was the youngest of seven brothers and sisters. He served in the Navy for two years during WWII, and spent most time in the South Pacific on the USS Copahee. A year after being discharged, he met and married the love of his life, Patricia "Patsy". He worked faithfully for 38 years as a Mechanic Supervisor for Kern County Parks and Recreation, until his retirement. He also attended his church for over 40 years and served as Head Deacon for many of those years. George is survived by his wife Patricia Linnell, with whom he spent 65 wonderful years. He is also survived by his three children, Cathy (Ron) Kennedy, Dennis (Marie) Linnell, and David (Jill) Linnell; grandchildren, DeeDee (Merritt) Hayslett, Michael (Geri) Kennedy, Scott Kennedy, Diana, Julie ( Dennis) Hyde, Jill (Donnie) Templeton, Ryan (Kendra) Dale, Shaun Dale, David (Kelsea) Linnell, Joey (Amber) Linnell, Alyssa Linnell; great grandchildren, Justin (Jenn) Hayslett, Garrett Hayslett, Joshua and Alexis Kennedy, Kyle and Bryn Hyde, Cody, Savannah, Nicholas and Van Templeton, Aubrey and Braxton Dale, Lily Linnell and many nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, and a special thanks to Renee, Cynthia, and Craig for you care and support.
