George (Tom) Roberts Obituary
Tom, who was born to George and Louise Roberts in Long Beach, CA., died unexpectedly from severe head injuries after a high fall from scaffolding.
He graduated from Delano High School in 1962. He was married to Donna Bishop Roberts for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Shana (Scott) Wood, Shelly (Eric) Sheldon, son Van (Stephanie) and grandchildren Jamie, Garrett, Eve, Clay & Callum, his brothers Steve (Gayle), Phil (Donna), sister Gloria (Jon) McClendon, along with several nieces & nephews. His 5 beloved dogs & cat will miss him dearly.
Tom had many interesting jobs including working at the Nevada Test Site, City Police Detective for Delano, Tulare County Sheriff Deputy, Santa Fe International Oil Company, CA Department of Water Resources, Pilot Officer for the CA State Police, Caltrans & a Pipeline Inspection Pilot. He retired in 2005.
Tom and Donna have lived in Bear Valley Springs in Tehachapi for the past 20 years. Tom was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was a Master of Tehachapi Lodge for 2 terms and awarded their highest honors.
Tom was a pilot and loved flying airplanes his whole life. He enjoyed cooking, guns, knives, football and owned several horses throughout his life. He enjoyed telling people the most interesting stories and making them laugh. He was a man of faith and we are comforted knowing we will see him again in Heaven.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22nd at the Bakersfield Masonic Temple (1920 18th St.). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Kern County Animal Shelter (3951 Fruitvale Ave.)
