Georgia Elizabeth Johnson, died peacefully on February 1, 2016 in San Luis Obispo, CA. She was 95 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Maret Burns Johnson and son Larry Johnson. Georgia was born September 19, 1920 in Bellingham, Washington. After moving to Glendale, Ca with her parents, George and Elizabeth Goforth she graduated from Hoover High School in 1938 and from UC Berkeley in 1942. After a serious accident she was diagnosed with epilepsy. In 1954 she founded the Epilepsy Society of Kern County. Educating the public on epilepsy became her great passion. She lectured throughout the United States on epilepsy, advocating for better understanding and acceptance of epileptics. This work led to numerous awards including President Eisenhower's merit citation and Bakersfield's citizen of the year
She also loved discussing politics, crocheting and playing bridge. She is survived by her three children Dyann Shepard of Atascadero, CA, Randy Johnson of Cottage Grove, OR and Steve Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah, son-in-law Rick Shepard, 9 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
