Gerry Hatton Trail Niswonger Obituary
Gerry Hatton Trail Niswonger, 80, of Exeter, Ca., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in Bakersfield Ca., with her family by her side. Gerry was born on May 31, 1935 in Rice Station, Ky to the parents of Leslie Hatton and Jessie Faye Richardson. They moved to Michigan when she was a young girl. In 1953, she married the late Cecil Trail, and they moved to Tulare, Ca. in 1960 where they raised their four children. After becoming a widow in 1972, she supported her family with a thriving wedding cake business and was appropriately nicknamed "The Cake Lady". Along with her business, Gerry enjoyed music and sang in several different gospel groups throughout her life. Gerry married the late Fred Niswonger April 3, 2003, and they made a home for themselves in Exeter, Ca. They were very involved in the art community and sold many of their works.
Gerry is survived by her three step children: Mona (Steve) DuPuy, Jeff (Donna) Niswonger, Lora (Bud) Reimer, five step grandchildren and one step great granddaughter. Gerry's church family was very important to her throughout her life. She taught her children that love is the key to everything. She is survived by her four children: Diana Williams, Jeff (Kammy) Trail, Katy (John) Glentzer, Mark (Cheryl) Trail; eight grandchildren: Jamie (Grant) Kenagy, Jennifer (Lon) Lancaster, Mackenzie (Kyle) Ross, Cecil Trail, Dustin Glentzer, Megan, Elijah and Jessie Trail.
The Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Exeter Church of Christ, 320 East Firebaugh, Exeter, Ca. 93221. A cake social will follow the service in honor of our Cake lady. Funeral Arrangements by Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service, Tulare.
