Gilbert Mota Jr. Obituary
Gilbert Mota JR, 77, born Sept 28, 1937, in Buttonwillow, CA, passed away peacefully April 20, 2015, with his wife Dolores and children by his side. Gil graduated from Bakersfield College & San Jose State University. After College he enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserve. Starting as an insurance agent for State Farm, he worked 50 years in that industry.
Gil was a fan of the San Francisco Giants, Kentucky Wildcats and the Oakland Raiders. Gil enjoyed people and conversation was part of his character.
He is survived by his wife Dolores; his five children Anna, Lisa, Gilbert A., Mario & Andrew and his six grandchildren Mykiah, Jacey, Matthew, Zachary, Gabriel & Io. His siblings Nancy, Doreen, Edgar & Ron and their respective families survive and mourn his loss as well.
The family would like to thank the former Martinez families, the Rosales family and his many and diverse friends, most of whom are in the Bakersfield area. Also thanks to the extended family in Texas and Mexico.
Gil was very proud of his family and his beginnings. Buttonwillow always held a special place in his heart and he never considered moving far away. He believed in being kind and respectful to all people, no matter their station.

A viewing will be available 2:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Mission Mortuary Services 531 California Ave., Bakersfield, CA. Burial will be conducted 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 29, at the Historic Union Cemetery, 730 E Potomac Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93307.
