Glen Williams 12/15/1929 - 11/21/2013 On a cold December day in 1929, Glen Williams, became the third child of Alton & Gladys Williams of Battiest, Oklahoma. He moved to Bakersfield with his family in 1946, where he attended Bakersfield High School and graduated in 1948. His first job was with the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Bakersfield, where he was employed for 14 years doing route work. He later became an employee with Challenge Creamery. He married Wanda D. Groves in 1949, and they were later blessed with the birth of two sons, Larry and Gary. They moved to Idaho, where he went to Boise State University and earned his BA in education. Later he brought his family back to Bakersfield to live and began his teaching career where he taught sixth grade in the Bakersfield City School District for 22 years. He loved working with the children in sports where he encouraged the boys and girls in track and field, volleyball, basketball and flag football. The summers were spent traveling throughout the U.S. in their motorhome; fishing, hunting, sight seeing, and visiting relatives. He loved to enjoy God's handy work, whether it was in the mountains, the beach or the country sides of America. Camping was an enjoyable past time for the family.Glen had a love for his Lord from the time he was 11 years old to the time of his passing at 83. Dad and Mom instilled love for the Lord in their boys. Singing with their family gospel quartet for years in this area brought Glen great joy. He directed music and taught Sunday School in their church for over 25 years and loved serving the Lord. Wanda preceded him in death in 1991 after an extended illness. He met Barbara Wilhite (Sutliff) in 1992 and they were married in December. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother. Glen had a love for Barbara's family and they spent many wonderful times together.
