Our loving mother Gloria Granado Perez passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2014 at the age of 81. She was born Gloria Blanca Granado on December 22, 1932 in Bakersfield, California the only child of Jose and Carolyn Granado.
She goes to heaven to join her daughter Pauline Perez and her parents. She is survived by her bother Ernie Lugo, her sisters Eva Sanchez and Andrea Rivas, her four sons Jesse Perez, Anthony Perez, George Perez and Joe Perez, her five daughters Nancy Ibarra, Blanche Jimenez, Stella Gallegos, Gloria Abbott and Carolyn Perez. She was a proud grandmother of 38 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was a single mother and worked two jobs to take care of her family. A preschool teacher with the BC Head Start Program. She loved working with children, nurturing their minds, making sure they had a warm lunch and making the kids feel safe on the bus ride to and from school. She also worked as a bartender at the Copa De Ore and El Montecito where she loved to dance and listen to music.
Rosary and viewing service was held on Monday, August 18, 2014 from 6pm to 9pm at Alma Funeral Home, 2130 E. California Ave., 93307. Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 10 am 601 E. California Ave., 93307. Burial will be at Union Cemetery immediately following Mass.
