Grace A. Shaner Obituary
Grace passed away March 3, 2015, in the Golden Living Center in Shafter. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 1, 1923. She was a longtime resident of Twentynine Palms.
She was a professional dancer in New York and danced with the USO shows. The USO shows took her to California where she met Kenneth in the Bullock's Department Store on Wilshire Boulevard. Three months later they married on the Bride and Groom Show on Wilshire in 1946. They moved to Snow Valley with three-month-old daughter Marianne. They raised four children in Running Springs and Ventura. She received her LVN in 1973 and her RN and degree in 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Shaner, her parents, Randolph Rudder and Elaine Rudder of New York, brother Randolph Rudder of Florida, sister Nina Wells of Las Vegas and son-in-law Tim Doyle of Bakersfield. She is survived by her children, daughter Marianne (Jim) Gina of Las Vegas, Bonnie Doyle of Bakersfield, son Kenneth R., (Debra) Shaner of Ventura and daughter Marlene Shaner of Lake Hughes. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at St. Martin-in- the-Fields Episcopal Church in Twentynine Palms, 72348 Larrea Ave.
