GREGORY MOJICA

1926 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
On August 31, 2016 Gregory Mojica peacefully passed away into the Lord's arms with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Bakersfield for most of his 90 years and lived a long and happy life. Gregory left school at a very young age to work in the family concrete pipe business. He then enlisted in the army and became a very proud WWII Veteran. He was so proud to serve in the army that he even wrote a brief booklet along with his own illustrations so his family could enjoy his experiences. He received his Honorable Discharge papers from the 169th Infantry Regiment 43rd Division on November 30th 1946. Once home, he met and married Socorro, his wife of 59 yrs on Jan. 1, 1949. Gregory decided to learn a trade and went to the National Schools in Los Angeles where he successfully completed his training with Radio, Television & Allied Electronics. He and Socorro returned to Bakersfield to start their family. They were inseparable and enjoyed going to parties, trips to Vegas, Pismo Beach and Arizona and the National Parks. Gregory enjoyed tinkering with his hands and oh those notes he wrote will now be cherished to find and read. He was employed as a TV Technician and retired from Montgomery Wards after 25 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Socorro, his father George, mother Eulalia, sisters Marcelina, Mary, Jenny & Margie along with his brother Louie. Also, Mike Mojica who was his Uncle (3 months older) but they grew up like brothers. He is survived by his children Vivian & husband Joe Jaime, Greg & wife Maria, Marty & wife Mary, his sister Hopie & brother Tommy, his 2 granddaughters, 4 grandsons & 6 great grandchildren.
