Harlan Loyd November 3, 1930 - December 23, 2012 Dad was called home in Paradise, CA to rest with his savior Jesus Christ on December 23rd after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Arkansas and came to California as a young man. Dad enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Kearsarge during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to California where he met and married his loving wife JoAnn. Together they raised 6 children. Dad spent most of his adult life working in many different cotton gins in the central valley. He retired from Kern Lake Co-Op Gin where he was employed as Gin Superintendent. Dad was a jolly character who always had a joke ready to brighten your day. Above all he loved the Lord and was always ready to share the saving grace of Jesus Christ with anyone who came along. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn of 56 years. He leaves behind his sister Sybil and husband Junior Caudell; his children, Dennis and Paula Loyd, Virginia and John Cully, Lorna and Vern Brannum, Elizabeth and Mark Parson, Roland and Maria Loyd, David and Shelley Loyd. 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Inurnment Service and Military Honors will be held at 2pm, January 11, 2013 at Bakersfield National Cemetery, Arvin, Ca. www.bakersfield.com/obits
