Visitation for Harry Lloyd "Stony" Boese will be held at Basham-Hopson Funeral Care (620 Oregon Street) on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Basham-Hopson Funeral Care Chapel (620 Oregon Street) on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Military honors and interment will be conducted at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, commencing at 12:00 p.m.
Harry Lloyd "Stony" Boese, was born on December 5, 1927 in Turpin, Oklahoma to John and Blanche Boese, and passed into glory on August 1, 2014 in Bakersfield, California. Stony was preceded in death by both his parents; his son, Doug Bennett; and granddaughter, Debra Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Jody) Boese; daughters, Ronna Gutierrez, Pamela O'Connor, Kathy Thomas(Jim), Debbie Palmer (Jerry), and Katie Tomasik(Tim); sons, David Boese and Charles Linn; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; plus two great great grandchildren. After moving to California, Stony joined the Merchant Marines, after which he worked as a salesman for San Joaquin Produce, before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1952.  Stony  worked at the Vandenberg AFB Commissary for 27 years, retiring as a produce manager. Stony was an avid pool player, and enjoyed playing tournaments, as a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #93. Stony enjoyed taking cruises with friends and family, and enjoyed dancing with his wife, or just sitting on the patio, enjoying the roses and the waterfall. The family wishes to thank Optimal Hospice, Interim Healthcare, and all those who helped with Stony's care during the last three years.
