Hattie Lum Obituary

Hattie G. Lum 1915 - 2010 Hattie G. Lum passed away peacefully on October 12th. She was the last surviving child of Woo Lum and Jane Quan Lum. Hattie was born Feb. 16, 1915 in Bakersfield. The Lums were a pioneer farm family of Chinese descent. She attended Stine School and graduated from Kern County High School. Hattie loved being a volunteer in the Arts and Crafts division of the Kern County Fair. She was proud of being able to volunteer for over 40 years. She will be missed by her nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces and extended family. Visitation is scheduled Saturday, October 23, at 9:00 a.m with Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sing Lum School Library, 4600 Chaney Lane, Bakersfield, CA 93311 or a charity of your choice. Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara www.bakersfield.com/obits

Hattie was such great lady, I knew her from the Kern County Fair, where she was chairman for the Baked Department for a good many years then as co chair. She always had a smile and a hello for all. She will be missed by all of us at the fair. Thoughts and prayers to her family.
