Hendrik (Hank) Rodenburg Obituary
Hank was born on February 25, 1928, in Berkel en Rodenrijs, the Netherlands. He was the fourth of eleven children born to Anthonie Rodenburg and Aartje Paul. The family moved to Pijnacker a few years later. Hank's father was a vegetable grower, and his sons followed in his footsteps. Except, Hank had developed a love of cows, and he wanted to be a dairyman. This wasn't possible in the Netherlands, so he decided to immigrate to the United States. On May 9, 1953, he sailed from Rotterdam on the SS Rijndam. Nine days later he arrived in New York. There he boarded a Greyhound bus and arrived in Bakersfield five days later. He went right to work that afternoon. In 1955, he married Johanna Buys and they were blessed with three children, two sons, Tony and John, and a daughter, Gerrie. In 1956 he started his own dairy. In 1986, he sold his dairy cows and started raising heifers for other dairymen. In 2005, he sold the farm, and they moved just inside the city limits.
In Holland he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Anton, Jan, Tonny, and Jacob, and one sister, Jannie Sonneveld, brothers-in-law Wim v.d.
