Herbert (Eddie) DeLaVega was born March 19, 1947, in Guaymos, Mexico to the late Alejandrina DeLaVega. Herb went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2016 in Bakersfield, California.
At a young age Eddie moved to California. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1965 to July 1968. Upon completing his service to our country, Eddie married the love of his life, Jeanette Sanchez.
Eddie was a faithful member of the Lamont Apostolic Church in which he worked relentlessly in many different positions for over 43 years. His love for his church was so much that he desired to see a new sanctuary built and became the project manager of the construction committee.
Besides his love for God and his family, Eddie truly loved to work. He began his career with Arco Oil Corporation as an account specialist. In 1988, he went on to work for the Kern High School District, where he was employed until his last days. Eddie's job as an account specialist at Kern High School District allowed him to work with all the high schools where he also formed many friendships and was well liked by all.
Eddie will be remembered for his benevolent and cheerful spirit. When he was asked how he was doing, he would respond "I'm blessed" as he smiled. He leaves behind a legacy of what God's love can do to a person's life. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, coworkers and members of the Apostolic Assembly.
