Nancy Church died Sunday morning, May 4, 2014, in Bakersfield, California.
Nancy was born in Yakima, Washington to Margaret and Benjamin Hering, and soon moved to Oildale, California. She graduated from Kern Union High School, met and married Lt. Thomas Raymond McClure and from that union her children included John (Karen) McClure, Margaret Brown, Patrick(Diane) McClure, and Michael(Betty Ann) McClure. After WW2, Lt. Her extended family includes 11 grandchildren, great granchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and 2 "Adopted" daughters, Sylvia Harwell and Kathy Ervin.
Nancy loved the mountains, and spent almost every available weekend and later retired at the family cabin in Posey, CA. Her love of the mountains, family and friends was only surpassed by her never ending faith in God and the church.
Mrs. Church was one of the founding members of Christ the King Catholic Church in Oildale, CA, where she was active in the choir, Altar society, ladies guild, and was PTA President at Garces Memorial High School. She had an incredible zest for life, inexhaustible energy, and amazing patience. She loved without limits and was always ready with a smile and a hug.
