Howard Eliason Obituary
Howard Edward Eliason passed away on Wednesday, December 4 in Bakersfield, CA.
Born in Bozeman, Montana on November 28, 1938, Howard spent the majority of his life in the San Joaquin Valley, graduating from Clovis High School in 1957. Growing up on a ranch, animals and agriculture were influential in shaping Howard's path in life. As a child, he was involved with 4H, raising award winning cattle and lambs. He studied animal husbandry at Fresno State and was then drafted into the army, where he served as an Agricultural Advisor at the beginning of the Vietnam War. During his tour, Howard was recognized as a Sharp Shooter and earned an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
After returning to Fresno, Howard opened Golden Horse Western Wear and served as a member of the Fresno Fair Livestock Judging Team. Later in life Howard moved to Bakersfield, where he opened up Stage Coast West Western Store and continued his career in agricultural sales and animal husbandry. Howard surrounded himself with family and friends as often as possible; there wasn't much more important to him than the connections he made over his lifetime. He is remembered by all who knew him as a man with a heart-felt laugh and a great story to tell.
Howard is survived by his son, Ryan Eliason (Marsha Eliason) and grandchildren Lacey, Amber, Ryan, and Sammy. He is also survived by siblings John Eliason (Stephanie Eliason), Diane Bridges (Jerry Bridges), Christy Knapp (Jeff Knapp), and KayAnne Marsella. In addition, he leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. All loved and will miss him dearly.
