Imogene Earlene Pearson, 80, of Bakersfield, formerly of Lamont, passed away on August 7, 2014 in Bakersfield, California.
Imogene was born to Walter and Rusha Holt on July 26, 1934. She grew up in and around the Featherston, Oklahoma area until her family moved to Lamont, California in the 1940s. She attended Mountain View School in Lamont and was part of the first students to attend Arvin High School. She married Earl Pearson on July 30, 1952. They were married for 62 years at the time of her death. She was a homemaker her entire married life. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, crocheting and knitting, having made dozens of afghans and scarves through the years. In her later years she and her husband attended the Lamont Senior Center for lunch on most days. She enjoyed meeting and being with her friends each day and this was a special time in her life.
Imogene is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rusha Holt; brother, John Henry Holt and niece, Jennifer Meinke. She is survived by her husband, Earl Pearson of Bakersfield, California; sister, Betty (Henry) Meinke of Lamont, California; son, Rick (Glenda) Pearson of Bakersfield, California; daughter, Karen (Gary) Hurley of Bakersfield, California; four grandchildren, Edwin (Julie) Pearson, Samuel Hurley, Michelle (Jared) Meadows; Sara (Matthew) Worthing; her nine precious great-grandchildren, Emyline, Thomas, Kathryn, Ethan, Ella, Matthew, Amanda, William and Benjamin; nephews, Wade Meinke and Johnnie Holt; niece, Teresa Adam.
Imogene was many things to many people during her life...a daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, sister, wife, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was loved by a lot of people and will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Mission Family Mortuary, 531 California Ave., Bakersfield, on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 1:00 - 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Mission Family Mortuary on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd. at 1:15 pm.
