Irene M. Oster-Ingram May 5, 1925 - December 22, 2010 Irene entered this world on May 10, 1925, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the youngest of seven children of Vance Orville Russell and Molly Irene (Chitwood) Russell. Irene came to Bakersfield in 1945 where she met and married Gottlieb (Pete) Oster on June 8, 1946. They had three children, Sharon, Philip, and Timothy. Irene was a homemaker her entire life. Besides raising her children with Pete, Irene enjoyed sewing and quilting along with watching her beloved Dodgers on TV with Vin Scullay on the radio. After Pete's retirement they welcomed the times of having one of their six grandchildren around the house. Playing pinochle against Irene was a challenge as she had her special signals of which cards to pass. Irene and Pete were married for fifty years until his passing in 1997. Later in life Irene was courted and fell in love with family friend Dennis K. Ingram. At the young age of Eighty, Irene and Dennis were married on November 19, 2005. Although their time together was short they made many wonderful times together. Whether it was traveling, spending time at their cabin in Cambria where she loved sitting on the deck and watching for deer and wild turkeys or having steak on Friday nights at the Eagles. When together their love for each other was apparent from the smiles on their faces. Irene passed from this world on December 22, 2010. She was preceded by her parents; her brothers and sisters; her loving husband of 50 years Gottlieb (Pete) Oster; her son, Frank McDonald; and her great granddaughter, Gracianna Register. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Dennis K. Ingram; her daughter, Sharon and Stephen Fabbri; sons, Phillip and Sandy Oster, and Timothy and Misty Oster; stepdaughter, Tamara and Ed Torres; grandchildren, Melissa, Stephanie, Jacob, Darci, Eric, Cord, Chris, Leigh, Ashtyn, Chandler; and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of The Hallmark for their loving and compassionate care of Irene. We would also like to thank Hoffmann Hospice for the excellent care given to Irene, especially Laura, Michelle and Krystal. Graveside services will be held today Tuesday, December 28, 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hoffmann Hospice or a charity of your choice.
