Iris Gwendoline Yager Obituary
Iris Gwendoline Yager October 11,1916 - May 24, 2013 Iris was born in Gisborne, New Zealand to William and Gladys Paddy. She was the fourth born of seven children. She met the love of her life Sherman Yager while he was working in New Zealand for Superior Oil Company. They married on September 13, 1941. In March of 1943 they were transferred to Red Bluff, CA. As they moved about for Sherman's job they were able to see much of the US and Canada while making numerous life-long friends. She loved spending time with her family especially the great grandchildren. When younger, Iris enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, gardening, photography and having a good time. Iris is preceded in death by her husband Sherman (1976), parents and four brothers. She is survived by sisters Olga Browne and Heula Pullyn both of New Zealand. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Northrop (Dale) and two granddaughters Kendra Northrop and Stacy Weaver (Scott), four great-grandchildren Hailey and Bridget Suthers, Audrey and Robert Weaver and many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to her friend of many years Ross Thornton. Thank you to Jeri Oden, Lisa Lemucchi and Teresa Lovos whom she loved so dearly. The family would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice for their care. She will be greatly missed and in our hearts forever. As requested services will be for immediate family only. www.bakersfield.com/obits
