Isabella Symington Gurr passed from this world on March 3, 2015 after a brief illness in Bakersfield, California
Isabella was born to Francis Scott Deans and Elizabeth Symington Deans on September 22, 1939 in Toronto, Canada. After graduating high school in Toronto, Isabella traveled the world before she settled in California. After the birth of her two children, Michael and Sheri, Isabella moved with her then husband, Donald Gurr, from the Los Angeles area to Bakersfield, California in 1970.
Isabella owned her own tax preparation business for over 40 years. She boasted that she didn't have any clients, just "friends that came by to have their taxes done." She enjoyed reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, and spending time with her family.
Isabella is preceded in death by her father and mother, Francis and Elizabeth, her twin brothers Clifford and George and her beloved dogs Skippy and Macy. Isabella is survived by her two children, Michael Gurr of Soquel, California and Sheri (Ray) Looney of Bakersfield, California, her grandchildren Shelby (Yusef) Korin, Randall Tullis, Alexander, Nicholas and Anna Gurr, and her great grandchildren Nora, Safiyah, Samuel and Ismeal.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Bakersfield Firemans Hall at 7320 Wible Rd. in Bakersfield, California on Sunday March 8, 2015 at 3:00 P.M.
