Isom Clinton Kennedy Jr. Obituary
Clint, as family and friends knew him, was born in McFarland, CA on July 2, 1961. He passed at his home in Bakersfield at the age of 52. A special event for Clint occurred on November 24, 2013 at his home led by Monsignor Perry at his bedside where he was baptized, received Holy Communion, confirmed, and also renewed his wedding vows to his wife Debbie with 23 family members present.
Clint was proud to have gained his engineering license, after which he founded and operated We Can Dig It Backhoe Service. Though his formal education was limited, his practical education was boundless. He was also an accomplished mechanic who gave tirelessly of his time to help family members and friends. He enjoyed motorcycling, boating, skiing, hunting, and music. He truly enjoyed playing guitar for family and friends, especially with his daughter Katie and father Clint Sr. The family enjoyed his sense of humor and his infectious smile. In June 2012, he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer where he fought a courageous battle. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his illness on December 27, 2013 with his wife Debbie and son Keaton by his side.
He is preceded in death by his mother Bettie Spaulding Kennedy, brother Dale, and sister Vickie. Clint is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Debbie of sixteen years, children Keaton (13) and Katie (10), sons Isom C. Kennedy III and Todd Kennedy by previous marriages, step children Willie Shoffner and his wife Sarah, Jeff Shoffner, special buddy Casey and her husband Brandon Robinson, and Katlyn Shoffner. As well as grandchildren Shelby, Brancen, and London, father and stepmother Clint and Lola Kennedy, brother David Kennedy and his wife Janie, his sister Lola and husband Danny Nickell, Debbie's parents Jon and Donna McMurtrey, and numerous extended family members.
Debbie would like to say a special thank you to home health nurse Sheree Johnson, Gentiva Hospice for their dedication, especially nurse Lisa and caregiver Robin.
Services will be held on January 6, 2014 at St. Philip on Stockdale Hwy at 2:00pm followed by graveside services at Greenlawn on Panorama.
