Ivan L. Boner 1953 - 2013 Ivan L. Boner, 59 years old heroically gave up his fight against liver cancer. He passed away with his loving wife by his side on September 30, 2013. He was born and raised in East Bakersfield attending Orangewood Elementary, Edison Jr. High and graduating from Foothill High School. He loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting and enjoyed going camping. He also enjoyed going to Vegas twice a year to gamble. Ivan started working at a very young age cleaning chinchilla cages and other jobs before becoming a welder. He was employed by Ernest Thomas Company, who built big steel storage tanks. Worked for him until June 11, 1981, when he fell 48 feet from a tank they were building. He had a long battle to come back from injuries he sustained. He met his wife to be in 1977. A week after meeting her, he asked her to go with him to Washington where he was working at the time. They had been together ever since. We will greatly miss seeing his smile and the twinkle in his eyes. Survivors : His wife Debra Boner; Mother, Carolyn Boner; Brother, John Boner (Glenda); Sisters Lillie White (Lester), Carol Simmons, Denise Boner and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father Garth Boner. There will be a celebration of Life at Rancho Bowl Banquet Room, 128 E. Donovan Rd. in Santa Maria, November 16th from 2 - 4 pm.
