J. Ellsworth "Oz" Osborne Obituary
J. Ellsworth "Oz" Osborne age 90, of Bakersfield, California, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in his Bakersfield home.
He is survived by his three sons: Chuck Osborne of Loma Linda, CA, John Ellsworth Osborne of Redlands, CA, and Jay Edward Osborne of Porterville, CA. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marilyn Kay Osborne in 1977 and his beloved wife Virginia (Jeys) Osborne in 2012.
Ellsworth was born in Gridley, California in 1924 and graduated from Lodi Academy in 1943. Following graduation he was drafted into the US Army and served in the Philippines until 1946. Upon return to the states he met and fell in love with Virginia Jeys. They were married in 1947. Ellsworth graduated from the University Of Colorado School Of Pharmacy in 1955. The family moved to Bakersfield in 1955 where he worked at Vest's Drug Store until 1959. He purchased Greenfield Pharmacy in 1959 and operated the pharmacy until 1988.
Following his retirement he and Virginia traveled in their motor home throughout the US and Canada and spent many wonderful summers in Alaska. Ellsworth was committed to serving God and his fellow man. His response to God's love was written on every page of his life. He was dedicated to Virginia and his family as well as spreading the Gospel message and the soon return of Jesus. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to a "neighbor" in need.
Funeral services will be January 9 at 10:30 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary in Bakersfield.
