Jack Rudolph Montgomery Obituary
Jack Rudolph Montgomery October 13, 1927 - July 8, 2012 Jack was born in Lookeba, Oklahoma, on Oct 13, 1927, to Clyde (Punch) and Grace Jewell Montgomery. They were a poor family and in 1936 migrated to Bakersfield, California, to find work. In 1946 Jack met and married Velma Stubblefield and in 1949 they moved to Johnsondale, California, where Jack worked in the Logging and Lumber industry for the next 30 years. Jack and Velma raised five children in Johnsondale, Dan, Paul, Allen, Kay and Mark. Jack retired in 1979 and lived in the Kern River Valley until March 2012 when he and Velma moved to Bakersfield. Jack was preceded in death by Velma, his wife of 66 years, his father Clyde Montgomery of Oklahoma City, his mother Jewell Montgomery of Clovis, CA, his eldest son Dan of Mountain Mesa, CA, a grand-daughter Marilyn (Montgomery) O'Leary and daughter-in-law Melinda (Bue) Montgomery. He is survived by his sister Betty Ward of Clovis, CA, his daughter Kay and husband Alan Mitchell of Inyokern, CA, son Paul and wife Sondra of Bakersfield, son Allen of Kernville, son Mark and wife Sandi of Bakersfield and daughter-in-law Sherry Parker of Mountain Mesa, CA. He is also survived by 15 grand-children and 30 great grand-children. Jack was the family patriarch and will be sorely missed by all.
