James Dwight Tackett

1968 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
James Dwight Tackett Obituary
James Dwight Tackett September 5, 1968 - September 21, 2012 James Dwight Tackett, 44, passed away September 21st, 2012. James was born September 5, 1968, in Bakersfield, where he resided his entire life. He graduated from Highland High School and went on to go into the family business as a warranty claims processor. As a child, James was competitive in swimming, diving, and racquetball. When he was 9 years old, James was the California State and Western Regional Juniors Racquetball Champion, and he played in the National Racquetball Tournament in Memphis, Tennessee. James' greatest passion in life was music. He was a talented musician, playing drums and guitar. He realized his dream of playing in a band and was the drummer for The Noel Emmett Experience, a country-rock band that played local venues. James was honing his talent on the guitar, and played for his family at a recent gathering. James also enjoyed riding his off-road motorcycles. He seemed to enjoy scaring all of us with his high speed wheelies! Camping and trout fishing were shared with his wife and children, and his ability to catch fish was a sight to behold. Anybody that knew James probably remembers his custom convertible Mazda RX7, "famous" for being featured in the movie "Smokey Bites the Dust." After 25 years of keeping it stored, he recently spoke about bringing it out of retirement. But James' greatest love and proudest accomplishment were his children. He loved sharing his music with them. James is survived by his children, Madalynn, Jordyn, Jamie, and Aaron Miranda; wife, Brandy; his parents Bob and Janet Tackett; brother Robert Tackett and his wife Chantel; brother Mike Tackett; nephews Michael, Cameron, and Spencer, and niece Heather Tackett. He was preceded in death by his nephew Robbie Tackett. James touched a lot of lives, and we will miss him dearly. Visitation and viewing will be held Thursday September 27 from 4-7pm at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd. Funeral service will be held Friday at 10 am in the chapel at Greenlawn Mortuary. www.bakersfield.com/obits
