James Bristow Obituary

James Edward Bristow 1929 - 2010 Jim was born on January 11, 1929 in Windsor, England to the parents of Robert and Doris Bristow. During World War II he moved to Canada where he completed his education and began his career in the oil industry with Texaco. Jim later transferred to the United States and following 30 years of service he retired. He then joined the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where he volunteered for 15 years serving in various duties. He was mostly known for his "green thumb" as he cared for more than 50 plants located throughout the hospital. In 2007 he was recognized with the Salute to a Volunteer Award for his dedicated service. Jim went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William "Harry" Bristow; sister, Winnerford Hicks and brother-in-law, Frank Hicks. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Gloria; sister-in-law, Dorothy; son, Cary and wife Susan Evans; two grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews in the UK. Services will be held at Mish Funeral Home, Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11:00 a.m. www.bakersfield.com/obits
