James Fremont Pellett Obituary
James Fremont Pellett November 30, 1924 - June 27, 2013 Jim was born to Al and Leona Pellett in Shafter, California on November 30, 1924. Jim passed away June 27, 2013 at Golden Living, CA after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Marian Pellett for 36 years of Wasco, CA. Jim was the younger of two children and was very close to his mother growing up until her untimely death. During childhood, times were hard but the family made the best of what they had living on the family farm. Jim loved to ride horses, rope, work cattle and farm. Upon graduation from Wasco High School he joined the Army and served in combat overseas in South Wales, on the French Belgium border, then proceeded onto Rhine River where he was the first to fire across the river in World War II. On November 18th, 1945 he was discharged. Jim enjoyed sharing his stories about his timed served especially with longtime best friend Bill Tracey. After the Army Jim joined the Young Boys Association and went on doing what he loved riding bulls and roping where he won numerous buckles. Jim eventually moved to Dixon, CA with his wife Marian and daughter Alicia and worked for Valley Livestock for 14 years. After an injury Jim, Marian and Alicia moved back to Wasco, CA and went to work for LA Robertson Farms and retired 17 years later. Jim enjoyed working and teaching daughter Alicia about cattle and horses you would always find them together riding horseback and working cattle. Jim was a loving husband to Marian and a loving Dad to Alicia. He is predeceased by his wife; Marian Pellett; parents; Leona and Al Pellett; and children; Rod and Glenn Pellett. Jim is survived by: daughter Alicia Brown (Daran); step-daughters, Diane Romine (Greg), Sharon Smith (Kevin); and step-son Rick Pierce (Tammy). Grandpa is survived by his grandchildren Ben Pierce (Erica); Nicole Wills; Allen Pierce; Casey Pierce; Glenn Pellett; and his great grandchildren Jordan, Zachery, Dylan and Brittney Wills; Anthony, Tristen, James, and Princess Pellett; and Madison Pierce. His family and many friends will miss Jim; but by God's grace he has been taken home to be with his Wife Marian and his Savior. In lieu of sending flowers donations can be made to the Shafter Historical Museum, 150 Central Valley Hwy, Shafter, CA 93263. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 8 at 9am at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter followed by interment at Shafter Memorial Park.
