James Pecarovich Obituary
James Dale Pecarovich, born February 24, 1958, lost a brave battle with lung cancer on October 14, 2014, surrounded by family and friends. Jimâ€"JD to his familyâ€"was a devoted husband, and a beloved father, uncle, brother, and son. He made an impression on everyone who knew him, from his earliest days starring in high school theatrical productions to playing lead guitar in his own rock-band. JD's quick-draw cartooning skills delighted his friends and caught the attention of his teachers, some of whom appreciated being caricatured.
Those who knew JD can tell many stories of "The Amazing Pecarovich." His journey saw him working hard at many jobs along the way, including difficult and dangerous work with hazardous waste disposal before returning to school and dedicating himself to earning his BA in English and a teaching credential. JD brought his many artistic talents to his middle-school classroom. He was an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher to his students and to his extended family. He shared his passion for film, music, and good books with all fortunate enough to enjoy his company. He loved to ride his bicycle, saying it made him feel like a child again. Jim loved to vacation in Cayucos with his daughters and later on in life, with his wife, Miriam. Jim's family includes many relatives by blood and marriage, and his much-beloved church family at Grace Lutheran Church in Westchester.
Jim is preceded in death by his mother Kodo. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 9 years, Miriam, father and step-mother Ron and Jody Pecarovich, step-parents Bruce and Terry Meier, step-daughter Crystal and husband David (Arredondo), daughter Amy and son-in-law A.J. (Lowrey), daughter Alyssa and son-in-law Jacob (Talbert), brother Robb and wife Karin (Lightfoot), sister Pattina and husband Allen (Cheesman) and brother Taza along with nephews and nieces, Joshua, Carissa, Amanda, Nicole, Sara, Mark, Rebecca, Mitchell, Joseph, Cameron, Tristan, and Natasha. Jim is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul and Pauline Neipp, brothers-in-law Paul (Sharine) Neipp, David (Challice) Neipp, Jonathan (Debbie) Neipp, Timothy (Rebecca) Neipp, Joshua (Kendra) Neipp, and sisters-in-law Sarah (Ron) Garvin, and Rebekah (Ramiro) Guadarrama. Numerous nieces and nephew who called him uncle will miss him.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, November 1st, at 11:00am at Grace Lutheran Church (2530 Drake Street) in Bakersfield, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
We will continue to marvel at all of his artistic talents. J.D.'s animated, humorous stories will continue to tickle our family's funny bone. His tender kindness has always touched our souls. His beautiful love, we will always cherish and will live on in our hearts forever.
