Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and niece that was taken too soon. She was born in Spokane, Washington on January 30, 1951 to Audrey and Fred Holl. She was the youngest of their three children. In 1960, she moved with her parents to Morro Bay, California.
While attending school as a child, Janice participated in band. She played the clarinet and excelled in music. She was also a bright young woman that excelled academically. In 1969, she graduated from Morro Bay High School and set off to San Luis Obispo where she attended college at Cal Poly. A few years later, she transferred to Cal State Bakersfield where she graduated with a BS in Business.
Janice started her working career as a loan officer for Wells Fargo, but it wasn't until years later that she found her true calling as a teacher's aide working for the Panama Buena Vista Union School District. Throughout the years, Janice saw countless students come and go and always left a positive imprint of encouragement and success upon their lives.
Janice was an animal lover - especially of Australian Shepherds - but her true love was for her family. In 1990, her son Aaron was born, and she poured her love out for him. In 2012, Janice's first granddaughter, Eisley, was born. You would often catch the two of them going to the Marketplace for a Storytime event and getting frozen yogurt afterwards. Earlier this year, her grandson, River, was born. The joy that his contagious smile brought to her was so apparent.
As much joy as her family brought to her, this same joy she brought to us. Janice was a loving and giving person. She always put the needs of others above her own. She will be forever loved and missed.
Janice is survived by her husband Gary Hemingway, her son Aaron Hemingway, her daughter-in-law Carissa Hemingway, her step-son Steven Hemingway, her step-daughter-in-law Laura Bixby-Hemingway, her step-daughter Jamie Hemingway, her grandchildren Eisley and River Hemingway, her step-grandchildren Ollie and Louie Hemingway, her brother Eldon Holl (Beverly), her sister Bonnie Little (Roy), her Aunt CeCe Algra (Pete), and numerous cousins and other extended family members.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Greenlawn (Southwest) Chapel on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 AM. There will be a reception to follow.
