Janice Illene Tumblin Obituary
Janice Illene Tumblin January 19, 1952- October 1, 2012 Janice Illene Tumblin was born in Bakersfield, California on January 19, 1952, and raised in Lamont, California. Born to Venoy and Wilma Huff and the oldest of 3, she grew up in a loving and happy household. She graduated from Arvin High School in 1970 and then attended Bakersfield College. In 1974, Janice got married and moved to San Diego where she had two daughters and lived for 16 years before returning to Bakersfield. Janice will be remembered as the mother that enjoyed being the soccer mom and transporting a car full of kids to different activities. Janice was always the organizer when it came to family events like holiday get-togethers, camping trips, and family poker games. She loved getting her whole family together for a quick trip to Stateline or Las Vegas. Janice was at her happiest when she would have her whole family all together. One of the things that Janice enjoyed the most was decorating and redecorating her home and the homes of daughters. She loved making rooms look beautiful. Everyone knew to go to Janice for decorating advice. Janice did her best to continue her way of life after she was diagnosed with cancer. She was a strong fighter and would plan her Vegas trips in between her doctor's appointments and treatments. On October 1, 2012, Janice lost her battle with cancer. Janice was preceded in death by her brother Randy Huff. She is survived by her parents Venoy and Wilma Huff; her two daughters Andrea and Amanda Tumblin; her sister Shirley McCullar and husband Tom McCullar; nieces and nephews; and good friend Roger Dudley. The family would like to thank Mark Tumblin, Dr. David Quinn, PA Monica Averia, USC/Norris Cancer Hospital, and Optimal Hospice for their care and support. Funeral service provided by Basham Funeral Care. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 8th, 10:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park. www.bakersfield.com/obits
