Janice Yvonne Blanton was born on March 15, 1929, in Bakersfield, California, to Kenneth and Mae Leimbach. On Monday, April 11, 2016, Janice passed away while being surrounded by her family. She was raised and educated in Bakersfield, attending Standard Elementary School and graduating from Kern County Union High School (Bakersfield High) in 1946.
In 1948, Janice married Robert Blanton. They were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage just before his passing in 1998. Janice retired from the Bakersfield City School District as the Information Services Supervisor in 1991 after 33 years in their employment.
Janice was a member of the First Christian Church for many years and later joined Calvary Bible Church. Through the years, she participated in many activities and clubs associated with these two organizations.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband Robert Blanton, parents Ken and Mae Leimbach, and her brother Kenneth Richard Leimbach. She is survived by her daughter Gail (David) McCain, son Richard Blanton, grandchildren Michele (Patrick) Wheaton, Matthew McCain, and great grandchildren Emily and Samantha Wheaton.
Through the years, Janice enjoyed keeping as full a calendar as possible with social events and activities. Until recently, she met regularly with friends from her Standard Elementary School days. During the last few years, Janice was a resident at Rosewood.
She will be missed. There will be no visitation and private services will be held.
