Janie Arvizu Obituary
Our beloved Janie Arvizu went home to be with the Lord October 3, 2014.
Janie was born on January 14, 1945 in Austin, Texas to Juan and Estefana Pichardo. She attended local schools graduating from Arvin High School in 1963. It was here that she met and married her loving devoted husband, Jim Arvizu. They were married 49 years. From this union they had two sons, Mark and Mathew Arvizu. Janie is preceded in death by her father, Juan Pichardo.
Janie is survived by her husband Jim, son Mark, son Mathew and wife Helen Arvizu, daughter in law Gamilla Arvizu, her mother Estefana Pichardo, sister Ester Tafoya, brothers Sam Pichardo and wife Kathy, Joe Pichardo and wife Grace, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. Janie's greatest joy in this world was her family and she adored each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Janie recently retired from the Vineland School District. She previously worked for Bear Mountain Recreation District and Arvin Union School District.
Janie was an active member of her community serving on countless committees. You always wanted Janie on your project because of her calm, loving personality and her tremendous organization skills. Presently she was an active member of the Arvin Union School Board.Janie was the perfect hostess, generous, loyal, loving and a joy to have as a friend.
Funeral Services are as follows, Viewing will be Wednesday, October 8th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral will be Thursday, October 9th, at 10:00 am, both will be held at the Church of Nazarene on corner of Campus and Varsity Rd. in Arvin followed by internment at Arvin Cemetery. After the services friends and family are invited to the Veteran's Hall in Arvin to celebrate Janie's precious life.
Pallbearers are Jacob Arvizu, Zachary Arvizu, Ryan Arvizu, Sam Pichardo, Joe Pichardo and Lupe Pichardo. Honarary Pallbearers are Michael Arvizu, Danny Torosian, Joshua Caudillo, Alex Pichardo, Richard Pichard, Victor Pichardo, Pat Guerrero, Danny Guerrero, and Mario Rodriguez.
