Janie Lou Toy Obituary
Janie Lou Toy November 10, 1934 ~ March 9, 2013 Janie Lou Duggins Toy was born to Calvin and Marget Duggins in Hominy, OK, and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Bakersfield, CA. Janie was 78 years old when she passed from this life after suffering from congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and other physical complications. She was on dialysis three days per week at the time of her passing. Janie is the wife of Charles Toy and the mother of two children, Craig Douglas Toy and Vicki Harrel. Craig and his wife, Shanna, are the parents of three children, Chase, Eva, and Derek. Vicki and her husband, Kevin are the parents of two children, Clayton and Corbin. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister, Ninetta Mason, and many nieces and nephews. Janie went to work as a secretary to an insurance agent immediately after graduating from high school. This secretarial position gave her skills and experiences that permitted her to be the secretary to the Dean of Women at Kansas State University during the time her husband was stationed in the Army in Kansas. After returning to California, she worked as a secretary for private schools to make a total of 48 years working as a secretary. She retired in 1999 and began suffering with ill health. This led to open-heart surgery in 2005, and her health deteriorated until her death. Janie was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and she served in various capacities of the churches her husband pastored. She was an accomplished pianist, and her participation in the ministry brought many blessings to members of the congregation. Janie also played the organ for Delano Mortuary for many years, where her husband pastored an Assemblies of God Church for over 16 years. Janie will be missed by her husband of 54 years, her family, church members, and many friends who were blessed as a result of her keen wisdom and knowledge of God's Word. She often said during her long illness that God would call her home when He was finished with her on this earth. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shafter First Assembly of God Church, 150 Elm Street. For condolences please visit www.greenlawnmortuaryandcemetery.com.
