Jason "Jay" Lang Obituary
Jay was born in Chicago, Ill. He grew up in Venice Beach, CA and attended Santa Monica High School and Santa Monica City College. He then went to Radio Operation Engineering School, earning his First Class Radio Engineer License and General Radio Telephone Operator License. He was a Ham Radio operator and a two-time past president of the the Ham Radio Club.
Jay had extensive, professional experience in broadcasting. At age 20, he was already doing play by play for Santa Monica City College. he was a disc jockey for KNJO, KACY and KLFM in Long Beach. He worked with Buck Owens at KUZZ, also KAFY and KGFM, among others. He was a quick witted funny guy who loved his Harley. An avid pipe collector for 50 years, he was known as the Meerschaum King online, where his advice was sought after from around the world. He was a Farmers Insurance agent for more than 30 years.
Survived by his amazing wife of 30 years Diana, step daughters Tiffany Kadrmas, Tammy Silva and sisters Barbara Cotler and Myrna Charlin, many nieces, nephews and 5 grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jay's life will take place August 22, 2015, family home.
